Dear Art Enthusiast,
River Junctions Arts Council would like to invite you to be a part of bringing art, in its many forms, to the Wabasha-Kellogg area. In a difficult economy, it’s important to know that RJAC donations fund only local events, providing music and arts opportunities in Wabasha that are comparable to what you might find in a larger city.
After the long winter, RJAC’s Spring Into the Arts will wake-up your artistic side. It begins with the Membership Drive Concert April 16th at 7:00 p.m.– local musicians performing at the Eagle’s Nest Coffee House. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. The concert is free with your paid membership. Other spring events include: classical music, an assemblage art show, an open mic night, the W-K High School art show, and classes taught by local arts professionals.
The well-loved Meet Me Under the Bridge Summer Concert Series has been expanded through the end of August! The summer kicks-off with the Safari Band children’s group on June 11th. Concerts are held every Friday at 7:00 p.m. under the bridge in Heritage Park. Bring a lawn chair and a friend, and enjoy diverse music– from Dixie Land Jazz and Scottish Bagpipes to Salsa and Polka. All concerts are free and fun for all ages.
RJAC has something for everyone.>Down By the River Art Gallery, located beneath the Chocolate Escape,>is now in its third year and features local artists. The Backdoor Book Club meets monthly to discuss novels. The Writers’ Critique Group brings together writers to share their work in an open forum each month. And Prairie Fire Children’s Theater,a week-long theater workshop for kids, will present Sleeping Beauty this August. There’s a lot going on! Check the event insert for details, as well as www.rjac.org for updates.
RJAC funds its many programs through member donations. Without you, RJAC could not fulfill its mission to bring art, music and cultural events to our community. So, please take a moment to fill out the enclosed membership card and return it with your check. And thank you for your continued support, from the entire RJAC board: Pam Christopherson, vice president; Brian Yenter, treasurer; Laura Swartout, secretary; Terry Dennis, Aggie Hubbard, Jim Smit, Natalie Thyren, Cheryl Toney, Jane Trok and Rachel Yenter, members-at-large.
Sincerely,
Nicole Borg
