She lives near the St. Croix River in Minnesota\, where she cares for an Indigenous seed garden\, native perennials for pollinators\, and a Tamarack bog. All are welcome. DESCRIPTION:Minnesotans 16 or older who take a child 15 or younger fishing don’t need a license on this special weekend. \nSo plan a special fishing day or weekend and catch some quality time with friends and family. \nShore fishing is a great way to enjoy a day at the lake. It’s easier\, cheaper and there’s a lot more room and opportunities for great fishing spots. \nA good\, safe spot to start fishing is on a nearby fishing pier. You can find fishing piers on lakes and in many parks throughout Minnesota. \nIf you’re going to fish from shore\, you’ll likely have to explore a bit to find the fish. Fish tend to stay in one spot so you have to move and cast along the shoreline to find them. \nSpring is the best season to catch fish due to the fish being hungry after the long winter\, being more active due to warmer waters and laying their eggs near shore. As soon as the ice has melted off the lakes\, sunfish and crappies are great species to seek. \nSummer shore fishing is a little more difficult due to thick near shore vegetation and fish moving to deeper\, cooler waters away from shore. DESCRIPTION:Visit Alma\, Wisconsin on Saturday\, June 6th from 10am-4pm for Castlerock Museum’s annual Fire in the Shire event\, a citywide celebration of all things medieval. \nThe highlight of the day will be the various demonstrations taking place on the street in front of the museum. Kazimir the Hungry will be breathing fire and swallowing swords at 10am\, 12:50pm and 3:10pm. The Wisconsin Historical Fencing Association will demonstrate the longsword at 10:30am\, rapier dagger at 11:40am\, the quarterstaff and poleaxe at 1:20pm\, and Messer / sword and buckler at 2:30pm. Visitors can learn about Armor through the Ages at 11:10am. New this year\, Asfolk Viking Martial Arts will be doing sword\, shield\, and spear demos at 12:20pm and 2pm. \nThere will be ongoing displays by Clann Tartan\, A Life Medieval\, and Hangin’ with the Bard in the museum courtyard. Clann Tartan will do a pike demo at 11:30am and a non-firing matchlock demo at 1:30pm. Bardmageddon will perform in the museum theater at 12:30pmpm and 2:30pm and One Eye Dave’s Hotdogs will provide concessions. The museum closes at 4pm. \nAdmission wristbands are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Visitors in ancient\, medieval\, or renaissance era dress get $2 off and children four and under are free. \nVisitors interested in searching for the fabled “Holy Grail” in the shops of the shire can enter a drawing to win the treasured artifact along with $100 Alma Dollars. The drawing will be held at 3:40pm at the Castle. Participating businesses include Alma Public Library\, Fire & Ice\, Alma Leather\, W Whiffs\, Water Lily Gifts\, Wings Over Alma\, Happy Hub\, Alma Bakery\, Stump Town Gallery\, Big River Theatre\, Riverside Bait & Liquor\, Alma Chiropractic & Wellness\, Unparalleled Farms\, and Garden Gate. \nThere will also be plenty of merry making with the Midwest Renaissance Actors Guild performing on Main Street. The Big River Theatre will be running cartoons throughout the day and having a performance by Kray Van Kirk (Folk Americana/Celtic Music) at 7pm. Join us for a series of fun dance workshops designed to help performers build confidence\, learn new skills\, and get a head start on the movement and choreography that may be used in the production. \nThese workshops are open to everyone ages 8 to 80 and beyond who is interested in theatre\, dance\, or participating in the show. No previous dance experience is necessary. Whether you are a seasoned performer or stepping onto the stage for the first time\, these sessions are a great opportunity to learn\, move\, and have fun. \nParticipants will explore basic dance techniques\, musical theatre movement\, and choreography inspired by the exciting world of Bikini Bottom. Along the way\, you’ll learn more about musical theatre\, meet other performers\, and gain confidence for auditions and rehearsals. \nThe workshops will be taught by Claire Penning\, choreographer for SpongeBob the Musical. Claire has an extensive background in dance and movement and has been choreographing productions at Wabasha-Kellogg for the past five years. Her energetic and supportive teaching style makes these workshops a great experience for performers of all skill levels. \nThere is no cost to participate\, and attendance is completely optional. These workshops are simply an opportunity for community members to have fun\, learn some new dance moves\, and get a head start on the choreography and movement styles that may be featured in the show. You do not need to stay for the entire audition session—just long enough to complete your singing\, vocal check\, and audition reading. \nAlready filled out the interest form? Great!
