VFW Job Opening – Bar/Club Room Manager

The Bar/Club Room Manager is a salaried management level position responsible for managing all hands-on operational aspects of the Post bar and club room activities on a day-to-day basis. Email Resume to adj@vfw4086.org.

Key Duties:

  • Supervise and manage the daily operation and cleanliness of the Post bar and club room
  • Responsible for hiring, training of bartenders and other support staff
  • Create employee schedules based on expected customer numbers
  • Ensure staff is following food control and safety regulations
  • Manage and maintain inventory of food, beverages, related items and cleaning supplies
  • Retain records of purchases, receipts and sales
  • Prepare and complete documentation for deposits as required on a weekly basis and delivery to the bank
  • Prepare all bartenders’ shift tills with sufficient funds and accountability
  • Provide weekly/monthly reports to the Post Quartermaster and House Committee
  • Attend monthly Post House Committee meeting
  • Schedule requests for rental of the Post club room
  • Schedule and promote activities and music for the Post and club room
  • Promote a positive, professional and harassment-free environment for Post members, guests and employees
  • Additional duties not outlined in this description as required

Knowledge and Education:

  • Learn and understand the day-to-day operational characteristics and capabilities of the Post
  • High School Diploma (or GED equivalent)
  • Prefer a minimum of one year experience in the Bar Managing industry and this may be waived on a case-by-case basis
  • Mathematically proficient and the ability to complete basic equations associated with accounting spreadsheets via Microsoft software or program currently being utilized
  • Experience with social media software such as Facebook preferable but not required
  • Perform annual review of staff
  • Make recommendations to House Committee regarding pay increases and bonuses
  • Obtain Food Safety Food Handler certification within 30 days of hire

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and move supply items up to 35 pounds
