Let the Widespot introduce you to Bluegrass Music March 28th

If you are not acquainted with bluegrass music, Monroe Crossing loves introducing newcomers to bluegrass music! This will be Monroe Crossing’s premier debut at Widespot Performing Arts Center in Wabasha on March 28th.
Monroe Crossing performs an electrifying blend of classic, gospel, original bluegrass and some surprising selections outside the bluegrass genre. Named in honor of Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, Monroe Crossing’s superb musicianship and on-stage rapport have entertained audiences through the US, Canada and Europe.
The band has five distinct personalities with differing musical backgrounds. When combined, their individual histories make a unique sound. The three original members are Mark Anderson (bass), Lisa Fuglie (fiddle and lead vocalist) and Matt Thompson (mandolin and harmony vocals). Other alumni rounding out the group will be Derek Johnson (guitar and lead vocals) and Graham Sones on banjo.
With 17 released albums to date, Monroe Crossing has been recognized worldwide with awards, including being inducted into the MN Music Hall of Fame in 2007. Whether playin bluegrass or material outside the genre, Monroe Crossing is one of the most entertaining acts in bluegrass today.
Visit Widespot’s website for details, tickets and more: widespot.org, or by calling: 715-448- 0536. Tickets will be available at the door for an increased fee.
Widespot’s remaining spring show lineup will include:
April 11th – Jambalaya. This exciting addition to Widespot’s spring lineup offers funky rock and soul music with songs by Little Feat and the Allman Brothers with a mix of Muscle Shoals and Memphis added.
May 9th – City Mouse. The Mankato Mouse will be in the House bringing a blend of country, bluegrass, country-rock and some five part acapella vocals. It’s Mother’s Day weekend – treat Mom to this Minnesota gem. WideSpot, the premiere entertainment venue in the Lake Pepin Region, is in Wabasha, Minnesota’s Broadway Theater at 611 Broadway Avenue in the historic Mittel Schule building.
The venue is fully accessible and features auditorium seating, onsite parking, and a bar serving beer, wine, water and sodas. Showtime will be at 7 pm, with doors opening at 6:30 pm.
WideSpot is supported by a number of community sponsors, including the Queenan Foundation, the Wabasha-Kellogg Area Foundation and the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council who’s activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the MN State Arts Board thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
