❤️ A beautiful tribute to a remarkable woman and an important piece of local history. ❤️
We are so proud to see the completion of the new Sister Gerina memorabilia and historical display, generously funded by St. Elizabeth’s Auxiliary. This meaningful exhibit honors the life, service, creativity, and legacy of Sister Gerina, whose impact on the community spanned decades.
A special thank you goes out to Marcia Kjos and Rhonda Whalen for their thoughtful work curating and assembling the display with such incredible care and attention to detail. 👏
Sister Gerina entered the convent in Abenberg, Germany, and came to the United States in the early 1930s. She devoted 60 years of service to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, serving in Physical Therapy, surgery, obstetrics, elder care, and many other roles throughout her lifetime of ministry and compassion.
She was especially known for her love of the elderly, her devotion to the rosary, and her incredible creativity. Sister Gerina created beautiful handcrafted shrines and decorations using everyday materials and religious items — touching countless lives through both her care and artistry.
📍The display can now be viewed on the back wall of the Sister Gerina Room at the Grant Blvd campus of Emplify Health by Gundersen Wabasha Area whenever the room is open.
