Ever wonder why one intersection gets a stop sign, another gets a roundabout…and another gets a J-turn?
Here in the Wabasha-Kellogg area, we have a little bit of everything — so when Bolton & Menk, Inc. shared this episode of Blink: Infrastructure Explained, we had to watch.
And yes…they talk about the infamous J-turns.
Highway 61 was honestly the first place some of us had ever encountered them, and whether you love them, hate them, or are still trying to figure out exactly how you feel about them, it’s pretty interesting to learn why different intersections are designed the way they are.
The video takes you through four-way intersections, roundabouts, J-turns and more — and explains some of the thinking that goes into traffic flow, congestion and safety.

🏈 SUNDAY FUNDAY! Start with the Lost Dutchman breakfast buffet before heading to St. Felix Fall Festival! Then it’s Sunday Funday at BJ’s and FOOTBALL all around the area. Hear the GO PACK GO! chants at Great River Harbor and Walker’s Silvermoon, while Vikings fans can catch the game at Reads Landing Brewing Co., BJ’s, Pioneer Club, Sippi’s Pub & Grub, the VFW, The Front Porch and West Side Tavern.
