🇺🇸 Announcing Our 47th Annual Wabasha Riverboat Days Parade Grand Marshal! 🎖️
Presented by the Wabasha Rotary ClubWe are deeply honored to announce Dr. Edwin Albrecht as this year’s Grand Marshal of the Wabasha Riverboat Days Parade!
A true American hero and beloved member of the Wabasha community, Dr. Albrecht is a WWII combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient who served with courage in the Rainbow Division, 242nd Infantry Regiment. Drafted in 1943, he was wounded in action in the Rhineland in 1945 and later used the GI Bill to attend Optometry College.
In 1949, he and his wife Loretta made Wabasha their home, where they raised four children and he served the community through his optometry practice until retiring in 1998. Known for his friendly nature and brisk daily walks, Dr. Albrecht recently celebrated his 100th birthday—a milestone marked with his daughters, 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his 98-year-old sister Doris.
An avid chess player and lifelong learner, Dr. Albrecht is a lifetime member of Rochester Chess and formerly commuted from Wabasha to play at the club!
Please join us as we celebrate this remarkable centenarian and hometown hero on Saturday, July 26 at 6 PM for the Wabasha Riverboat Days Parade, and help us honor a life well lived and generously given.
